Victoria Police provides policing services to the Victorian community across 54 Police Service Areas (PSAs), within 21 divisions and four regions - North West Metro, Southern Metro, Eastern and Western. These regional boundaries correspond with those of other Victorian government departments, enhancing cross-department service delivery, particularly in the area of emergency management.

Recruitment Process

There a two different ways to work for Victoria Police.

  1. Join as a sworn member and become a Police Officer. You apply online and need to pass a number of steps including an entrance exam, fitness test, background check and health check. If you pass all these steps then you do (paid from day one) a 31 week training program at the Victoria Police Academy in Glen Waverley
     
  2. You join as a civilian with based on your qualifications and experience. For example, there are many Police Lawyers working at Victoria Police who are not sworn members but apply based on their qualifications and experience.
